Our jeweler family heritage goes back to 1946 to the college town of Montgomery West Virginia where our stores namesake, Johnnie H. Balser began working as a watchmaker under the GI bill for disabled veterans.
In the early 1950’s he opened the family’s first jewelry store and operated in Montgomery area for the next 12 years. In the mid sixties he and his family relocated to Elkhart Indiana and in 1970 open Johnny’s Jewelry which remained open till his retirement in 1996.
In 1981 a branch of the Elkhart store was opened in South Haven Michigan by his son Wayne (Johnnie) and his wife Kathryn which eventually was name Johnny’s Lakeshore Jewelry. It has become a premier destination location for fine jewelry and professional services in southwest Michigan.
The store expanded and doubled its size in 1991 and today is staffed by 6 full and part-time employees, including 4 family members.
Our goal is to provide all that we have the privilege to serve, professional personal attention, high quality, dependable products and a pleasant and comfortable shopping experience.
